New Rev's virtual induction St Andrew’s Church in Ayr

A former minister from the Presbyterian Church in Nigeria has been introduced as the new minister of St Andrew’s Church in Ayr.

The Moderator of the Presbytery of Ayr recently inducted the Rev Stanley Okeke BA, BD, MSc to Ayr’s St Andrew’s.

During lockdown, where all churches throughout the country are closed, the induction was the second virtual one in Ayr Presbytery.

‘Present’ at the online induction were; the Moderator of The Presbytery of Ayr, Rev Brian Hendrie, the Rev Kenneth Elliot, Clerk to The Presbytery of Ayr, Rev Scott Rae, Interim Moderator at Ayr St Andrew’s and the Rev Stanley Okeke.

The Rev Okeke grew up in Nigeria and was ordained as a minister in 2012.

He came to Scotland to study for a masters degree at the University of Edinburgh.

In 2016 he returned to Nigeria to continue his calling as a parish minister but his love of Scotland brought him back in 2019.

Since that time, he has been an Assistant Minister on a familiarisation placement at Cramond Kirk in Edinburgh.

Mr Okeke said: “The people have been very welcoming.

“Much good Christian work has been going on in this parish before me and I believe that God will lead us on to new ways.”

The congregation at St Andrew’s are looking forward to this new chapter in the history of the Church.
