A proposal has been put to council planners for a new restaurant at the site of a former bookmakers on Queen Margaret Drive in Glasgow's west end.
The plans, submitted on behalf of Windex Limited, detail the intention to turn the unit at 162 Queen Margaret Drive, in Kelvinside, into a brand new food and drink venue.
The property, which is found beside Tesco, Zensation restaurant and takeaway and Wizard of Paws dog grooming parlour, currently lies vacant.
A previous application for a change of use from class 1 to class 3 was submitted and subsequently withdrawn last year over boundary issues, which have now been clarified, according to the submission.
Within the proposal it is stated: "The proposed Class 3 use will operate similar hours to both the existing Class 3 use and also the existing Tesco unit.
"Furthermore, we believe the proposed use will not generate a noticeable increase in footfall or general nuisance, when considered within the context of the subject unit’s urban surroundings, location on a main arterial route and existing nearby commercial uses.
"We believe the proposal will contribute to the local economy as it will bring back into active use a vacant unit, which has so far failed to attract an occupier. This is consistent with the key aims of the relevant planning policies, namely the protection of residential amenity.
"It is also worth highlighting the Council has approved previous applications for Class 3 uses in this location.
"With this in mind, we respectfully request that this application be approved".
A specific restaurateur for the site not been highlighted within the submitted documents.
