New restaurant Mamasan set to open doors next month

New city centre restaurant Mamasan is set to open its doors for the very first time next month.

The bar and brasserie, which will serve up Asian fusion food on Ingram Street, announced the much-awaited opening will take place on July 15 and July 16 with two launch nights.

Mamasan, the creation of Brad Stevens - the man who brought Southeast Asian food to the city with the opening of Bar Soba in 1999, followed by Pizza Punks in 2016 - had been due to welcome in its first customers on March 19, however, this was understandably postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.

This evening they revealed on Facebook the new opening date: "At last!

"We are thrilled to announce that our doors will finally open from Wednesday 15th July...

"To celebrate our much awaited opening, the drinks are on us!

"Reserve your table at one of our launch nights, Wednesday 15th or Thursday 16th July and you will enjoy your choice of complimentary cocktails on arrival (two per person).

"To reserve your forthcoming table please head to  https://mamasan.uk.

"We look forward to welcoming you soon!"

The team behind the venue, found just off Royal Exchange Square in the former Cau Argentinean steak restaurant, previously said they hope to make Mamasan "one of Scotland’s most iconic and exciting dining and drinking destinations".

And they plan to do so via a menu that "takes its inspiration from the flavours of South East Asia paired up with the best of Scottish produce from farm, field and sea".

Glasgow Live were given a tour of Mamasan back in March. To see the restaurant and our interview with Brad Stevens, press play in the video player above.
