New research suggests living near Glasgow University boosts home value by 44%

Living in the west end of Glasgow is a dream for many folk who call the city home and a reality for the lucky ones among us who have no doubt paid near top dollar to do so.

And now it seems its not just the leafy streets, windy cobbled lanes and plethora of cafes, bars and restaurants that make it such a desirable place to live.

That's because a new study by banking services provider Thinkmoney suggests that living next to Glasgow University increases the value of your property by 44%.

In particular, they refer to The Hunterian museum, which is based within the university grounds.

They analysed house prices within the the postal districts of the most-reviewed tourism sites in UK major cities, before comparing the results to the average house price of each city, as reports lifestyle magazine Country Living UK.

With the research into the most profitable landmark to live close to saw the museum come out second top in the UK behind Wightwick Manor in Wolverhampton.

While the second Scottish landmark to feature was Edinburgh Zoo in 10th position.
