New Research and Innovation Hub officially opened at Perth College UHI

The new Research and Innovation Hub at Perth College UHI has been officially opened.

The facility was launched last week by college principal Dr Margaret Cook and vice-principal of research for the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI), professor Donna Heddle, who both discussed the importance of research.

Margaret explained: “The Research and Innovation Hub aims to support staff who wish to further their research within the college - including a programme of support and guidance for early career researchers.”

Head of learning and teaching enhancement at Perth College UHI, Dr David Gourley, added: “This is an important milestone for Perth College UHI, emphasising a strong commitment to cultivating a vibrant research culture.

“The hub has been set up to expand, develop and sustain existing and emerging research within the college and the wider UHI.

“It will reflect a wide range of research areas and interests from business studies, environmental studies, creative industries, Viking studies, literature, music, education studies and digital technologies.

“It will also enable a more focused and strategic approach to the way the college researchers work with industry and other external partners, providing a new platform to strengthen existing links and develop new networks and relationships.”
