Two of the top three areas with the most registered sex offenders in Scotland are in Lanarkshire.
New figures released by Police Scotland shows the number of sex offenders living in Lanarkshire by postcode area up to March 31.
The ML1 postcode - covering Motherwell and surrounding towns - recorded the highest number of offenders in the country with 65.
AB24 in Aberdeen City came next with 55, while ML2 - covering Wishaw and surrounding towns - was third with 53.
PH1 (51) - covering North and West Perth - was the only other area to record more than 50 registered sex offenders.
As of March 31, across Lanarkshire, there were 530 offenders living in the community, with 164 in custody or hospital.
Only Greater Glasgow - 710 in the community and 236 in custody or hospital - has more registered sex offenders than Lanarkshire.
Detective Superintendent Paul Cherrie, head of Police Scotland's National Sex Offender Policing Unit, said the Force had worked with MAPPA (multi-agency public protection arrangements) to populate the report.
He told Lanarkshire Live: "Every single offender is assessed and managed in line with the risk they present.
"Sexual re-offending rates of registered sex offenders (RSOs) remain very low. While we can never completely eliminate risk, MAPPA partners use robust risk assessment processes, and a range of investigative tools including the latest technologies, to manage RSOs, mitigate risk and to protect the public."
In Scotland as a whole, there are 4358 registered sex offenders living in the community and 1472 in custody or hospital.
