New Report Reveals Possible Date for Kyrie Irving’s Debut With Mavericks

A possible date for Kyrie Irving’s debut with the Mavericks has reportedly been revealed on the heels of the blockbuster trade that sent the former Nets star to Dallas.

Irving, 30, is expected to travel with the Mavericks to Los Angeles on Wednesday, where he’ll take the floor with his new team for a matchup against the Clippers, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The eight-time All-Star is also reportedly scheduled to undergo a physical in Dallas on Monday, clearing the path for him to play in L.A., barring any setbacks.

Sunday’s trade marked the end of Irving’s tumultuous tenure in Brooklyn, with his exit appearing inevitable after he requested a trade on Friday. The Nets previously discussed an extension with Irving, who is set to become a free agent after the season, but talks reportedly broke down in recent days.

On the season, Irving, a 2022 All-Star starter, has averaged 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 40 games. It’s unknown at this time if Irving will play with new teammate and fellow All-Star Luka Dončić should he suit on Wednesday, with the Mavs guard currently out with a heel injury he sustained against the Pelicans on Thursday.

The Mavericks and Clippers game is scheduled for tipoff on Feb. 8 at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN).
