New 'Reach For Zero' campaign will help you make powerful changes to tackle climate crisis

It is the defining story of our time – what the United Nations has called a “Code Red” emergency for humanity.

The climate crisis has already placed almost half the earth’s population in danger from extreme floods, fires and heat and threatens the very future of life on the planet.

But that’s only half of the story. The other half is the story of what we can do about it.

Today we would like to start telling you more about that story.

Around 90% of nations including Ireland have pledged to reach zero carbon emissions by 2050.

But how are we going to kick that fossil fuel addiction, one which is increasingly weaponised in wars such as the horrific conflict in Ukraine?

In this ‘Reach For Zero’ campaign, running across our sister sites and publications up and down the country, we want to try and share with you the story of:

  • How the world is fighting back with inspiring solutions and actions
  • How we already have the ideas and know how to make this the decade of action science says it needs to be
  • How ordinary people are doing extraordinary things to turn our cities and communities into healthier places to live with more secure food supplies, better housing and cheaper energy, as well as creating jobs while providing nature and wildlife space to recover
  • How you too have the power of that change in your own home and your own hands

It’s a story of hope. The story of how together we can all ‘Reach For Zero’ and choose our own future.

Follow us in the coming weeks as we set out the solutions on Twitter @BelfastLive, Facebook @BelfastLiveOnline, Instagram @belfastlive and TikTok @belfastlive.
