Lawrence Shankland revealed his Hampden double against Curacao was made even more special after sharing the moment with his young daughter.
The new Rangers striker struck twice in Scotland’s 4-1, capping a remarkable week that also saw him seal a move to Ibrox.
Shankland cut short a family holiday to complete his switch to his boyhood club, but ensured the occasion remained a family affair by having his daughter as a mascot at the national stadium.
He said: “Every goal you score for your country, you’re delighted. It’s a special day, and I had my kid as the mascot as well. It feels special.”

On the match as a whole, Shankland continued, “The start of the game was quite difficult; they took the lead. We got fortunate with the red card, but after that, we looked like the only team that was going to score.
“It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve played, so it was about getting back on the pitch. As a striker, you want to get on the scoresheet, so I’m grateful I’ve done that.”
Shankland’s performance came in his 19th cap, and he insists he has been targeting this international window for months. He said, “It’s where you want to be.
"I’ve known all season this was coming up, so I did everything to get in the squad.”
