Rams announce official name of new Inglewood stadium

The Los Angeles Rams’ new home in Inglewood officially has a name. The team announced on Sunday that it will be called SoFi Stadium after the company purchased naming rights in a 20-year agreement.

Social Financial is a personal finance company that was founded in 2011 and is based in San Francisco. In addition to holding naming rights, SoFi will also be an official partner of each of the teams.

“It would be impossible to build a stadium and entertainment district of this magnitude without incredible and innovative partners who share our ambitions for Los Angeles, our fans worldwide and the National Football League,” said Rams owner Stan Kroenke in a statement. “Since breaking ground at Hollywood Park, more than 12,000 people have worked side-by-side on this project, and we are proud to now have SoFi join us on this journey as we prepare to open in the summer of 2020.”

American Airlines bought naming rights to the plaza and performance venue under the canopy of the stadium earlier this year. It will be called American Airlines Plaza and will host a variety of events such as concerts, esports events and more.

The stadium is slated to open next summer in time for the 2020 season.
