New 'quality' restaurant and takeaway plan for old Ayrshire pub is approved

Plans to turn a pub into a "quality" restaurant and takeaway have been approved.

Proposals to transform the Riccarton Inn have been given the green light by planners.

Applicant, Edzell Properties, want to refurbish the Old Street two-storey venue in Kilmarnock.

A flue will be erected at the rear of the pub as part of the blueprints.

A supporting statement reads: "The proposed development will see this vacant property refurbished and transformed into a quality restaurant.

"The proposed new restaurant will continue to be accessed via the existing front door and this will lead directly into the main restaurant.

"Offset to the right on entering will be a small area where customers waiting for takeaway food will be able to wait.

"This area will also provide seating for customers who can enjoy a drink at the servery/bar while waiting to be seated in the restaurant."

The application was approved with conditions by East Ayrshire Council planners on May 19.
