The Courier sent a Freedom of Information request to Public Health Scotland as Covid-19 spreads across the county again.

From May 25 to June 8, another 25 schools in West Lothian were identified as having at least one registered pupil that tested positive for the coronavirus.

The FOI also revealed that 76 pupils were infected in total during the timeframe but there were no large outbreaks involving more than 10 children.

The schools were: Armadale Academy, Balbardie Primary School, Bathgate Academy, Boghall Primary School, Broxburn Academy, Deans Community High School, East Calder Primary School, Falla Hill Primary School, James Young High School, Linlithgow Academy, Linlithgow Bridge Primary School, Ogilvie School Campus, Parkhead Primary School, St Columba’s Primary School, Simpson Primary School, St Kentigern’s Academy, St Margaret’s Academy, St Mary’s Primary School, St Mary’s Primary School (Polbeth), St Ninian’s Primary School, Stoneyburn Primary School, West Calder High School, Windyknowe Primary School, Whitburn Academy and Whitdale Primary School.

A Public Health Scotland spokesperson said: “The period reviewed for this analysis was May 25 2021 to June 8, 2021.

"The two data sources for analysis are the ECOSS database for Covid-19 PCR test results from both NHS laboratories in Scotland and UK laboratories and the Child Health Systems Programme-School (CHSP-School) dataset to identify the current school pupil population and their school of attendance.

"After a final refresh for the 2020/21 school year, the CHSP-School dataset identified 86 West Lothian schools, attended by 27,866 pupils."
