May 11--Charles "Chuck" Anderson of Aurora is the new president of the Fox Valley Park District Board of Trustees.
Anderson, who was appointed to the board in 2015, will take over as president in place of Robert Vaughan after the board's annual election of officers. All other officers remain intact, with Alex Alexandrou as vice president, Cynthia Penne as secretary and Rachel Ossyra as treasurer, joined by trustees Theodia Gillespie and Dennis Wiggins.
Anderson is a lifelong resident of the Fox Valley Park District and a third generation Auroran, according to a press release from the Fox Valley Park District. The father of four sons, Anderson spent 43 years with the Painters District Council 30 and led the union for more than three decades during that time.
"My whole career has been about helping people," said Anderson in the press release, "and I see my role with the Park District in the same way. What's most important are the people I work for -- Fox Valley Park District residents -- and I am always ready to listen to their wants, needs and input."
"Recreation, parks, programs, community centers -- these are integral pieces to great communities," he said. "The Park District adds to the quality of life, and I'm looking forward to continuing that in every way possible."
Anderson's term will run until April 2017, when Fox Valley Park District residents will elect a new, seven-commissioner board that will be seated in May 2017. Currently, the Kane County Board chairman appoints six members and the DuPage County Board chairman appoints one member to the board.
