Edinburgh weather: New postcode tool reveals how climate change will impact capital's neighbourhoods

For those who enjoyed Thundersnow 2020 last week, we hope you made the most of it as a new climate change tool has shown that white winters could become a thing of the past for Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Analysis by the Met Office has suggested that snow days could be gone forever by the year 2100 and have released a new tool with the BBC which shows how hot your local area could become.

Factor 50 sales will no doubt soar considerably in Scotland as temperatures in Edinburgh and the Lothians could rise to 34.4C in summertime and winters will be a super warm 17C with snow a distant memory.

With a 4C rise, parts of the UK could see temperatures above 42C if there aren't urgent cuts in emissions.

And for those excited about even more sunbathing, we have some bad news. The same report indicates that Edinburgh will actually see a 2% increase in rain.

The new tool has combined historical observations and detailed projections for the first time ever to show the impact of climate change in people’s local area. Enter your postcode and see how climate change will affect you here.
