New posh versions of Coke launched that are PERFECT to mix with whisky and rum

In a global first, Coca-Cola has teamed up with some of the world’s best bartenders to create four new "Signature Mixers" specifically designed work well with dark spirits.

Coca-Cola and it's award-winning team of mixologists experimented with more than 200 contemporary and traditional ingredients as part of the process, and is proud of the results.

The project started in March 2018, with top mixologists attending a Coca-Cola workshop. Consumers then tasted what they created and the most popular four flavours were chosen to be the first batch of Coca-Cola Signature Mixers.

Coca-Cola's Ana Amura said: “Working with an inspirational group of global mixologists to create amazing flavour combinations, we hope Coca-Cola Signature Mixers open up the world of mixology to an even wider audience.”

Coca-Cola Signature Mixers are served in a Hutchinson glass bottle with a shape first used by Coca-Cola in 1894, before the classic Contour shape was introduced. Each batch is stamped with the signature of its co-creator.

The new mixers are set to be available at all major supermarkets as well as bars and pubs across Britain from June, costing £1.50 for a 200ml bottle

These are the four versions along with tasting notes:

1 Coca-Cola Signature Mixer Smoky

"An intensely aromatic blend, with smoky hints, this mix brings nuanced dimension to deep, spiced rums and bold, premium whiskies.

"Ylang Ylang, ambrette seed and dried fruit, which inhabit the top layer, are balanced with an elegant base of warm brown spices; Peru Balsam and amber."

Notes by Max Venning, from Bar Three and Three Sheets (London)

Kopparberg now does pink gin - and it tastes of strawberry and lime

2 Coca-Cola Signature Mixer Spicy

"With a warm introduction that gives way to a fiery finish, this Signature Mixer is a sophisticated and complex blend.

"Citrusy lime, ginger, spicy jalapeño, fragrant rosemary and aromatic jasmine combine to create a mixer with a considered balance of zest and earthy flavours that pairs beautifully with spiced rums, aged / gold tequilas and spicy or sweet whiskies."

Notes by Adriana Chia, Antigua Compania de las Indias (Barcelona) and Pippa Guy, The American Bar at the Savoy (London)

New Verano gins launch that taste of lemon and watermelon - and Asda will sell them

3 Coca-Cola Signature Mixer Herbal

"A delightfully floral, crisp and tart mix, this Signature Mixer was developed to deliver fresh and herbaceous notes for the discerning palate.

"Balancing refreshing notes of lemongrass with the earthy tones of dill seed and tagetes, it is an inviting mixer with a refreshing, simple profile that pairs beautifully with amber whiskies and most types of rum."

Notes by Anotnio Nevares, Dr Stravinsky (Barcelona)

Lidl has launched a new flavoured gin and it sounds utterly delicious

4 Coca-Cola Signature Mixer  Woody

"Crafted from a subtle blend of earthy patchouli, citrusy yuzu and aromatic basil, this Signature Mixers has a tart, light and refreshing profile, with a hint of warmth.

"These elements, expertly blended, combine to elegantly enhance the mellow wood and sweet tropical flavours of golden rums and smoky to woody whiskies."

Notes by Alex Lawrence, former head bartender at the Dandelyan, The Mondrian (London)
