New portal to restart Lake Mac businesses

A new online portal has been launched for businesses in Lake Macquarie to help them get back on their feet after the recent lockdown.

Lake Macquarie's economic development company Dantia has launched the Business Matters portal in conjunction with Lake Macquarie City Council.

It provides a personalised concierge service to help businesses source the information needed to re-connect with customers and clients in a COVID-safe way.

Dantia CEO Katherine O'Regan said many local businesses had been doing it tough during the lockdown and the amount of information about the roadmap and the support available could be confusing.

While some businesses have been able to obtain COVID-19 grants, others have fallen through the cracks.

Local hospitality business Juice Me at Charlestown Square, which opened in the centre's food court in July, reached out to Dantia as they couldn't apply for grants to support them through lockdown due to being a new business.

"We are here to help Lake Macquarie businesses through this transition," Ms O'Regan said.

"The portal has been created specifically to help navigate COVID-19 and the first steps out of lockdown."
