New polling station in Radford after library damaged by water leak from heavy rain

A new polling station has been set up just a day before the Local and Police and Crime Commissioner Elections following a water leak at a library.

Radford and Lenton Library, in Lenton Boulevard, was originally going to be used as a polling station on Thursday, May 6 for the Police and Crime Commissioner Election.

It is being held alongside the Nottinghamshire County Council Election.

However, on Tuesday evening, the building’s roof leaked overnight during heavy rain which caused some minor electrical damage.

Residents have therefore been assigned an alternative polling station.

Nottingham City Council said: "Voters will now be able to cast their ballot tomorrow between 7am and 10pm at the nearby John Carroll Leisure Centre, on Denman Street Central.

"The substitute venue is around 600m from the library.

"Signage and maps directing electors to the new venue will be in place at Radford and Lenton Library, while Community Protection Officers will be in place all day to direct members of the public."
