New poetry book 'Black Book of Love' published

A new book on free verse poetry titled 'Black Book of Love' was published by Rumour Books India recently. Co-authored by Dr. Samudrika Patil and Rafaa Dalvi, the poems in this illustrated book depict the magic of love and relationships.

The book's blurb reads:

"Love is simple. Love is complicated.

Love is enabling. Love is toxic.

Love is vexing. Love is mundane.

Love is calming. Love is insane.

Love is seductive. Love is platonic.

Love exists or it doesn’t. Like black and white.

Love is never grey. There’s no in-between.

Only love is true. Only love is real.

"The poems in this book had sneaked in long back.

They crouched in dark nooks of the subconscious,

vaguely stirring from time to time.

Like the one memory you are not supposed to have

but always lingers somewhere close.

Now all of them are waiting for you.

Waiting to enter your world.

Waiting to kindle your imagination.

Or maybe, they are waiting to trigger something more.

That, we’ll leave to you to discover."

Talking about the book, Dr. Samudrika Patil, co-author of the book said in a statement, “I am really thankful to my friends who are family that supported me throughout the process and read my poetry over and over with every edit, I’d like to thank my parents for always encouraging me to pursue everything I desire, the publishers, Rumour Books India, for believing in us. The book is inspired by real thoughts and experiences of the people around me and a few are my personal anecdotes. I strongly believe love is a mad emotion that makes the world go round. Love is not just romantic in nature but also love for friends, family, your pet animals, the Universe, or the most important person in your life - yourself.”

Meanwhile, echoing similar thoughts, co-author Rafaa Dalvi said in the statement, “There’s so much uncertainty and pain in the world right now, that we want the readers to forget about that for a few hours. It’s our attempt to portray love from different perspectives and yet make it universally relatable. We want to convey the message of “yes, you can” and “it’s okay to be who you are, you will be loved.” It feels good to release something into the world that is so personal, and to have it be welcomed so warmly.”

The book was launched digitally on March 21, 2022. Priced at INR 250, the book is available in all leading bookstores both online and offline.
