New play 'Intercession: Brighton Court' explores lives of three disillusioned Dubliners and the choices they make

A new play will explore the lives of three disillusioned Dubliners and the choices they make.

'Intercession: Brighton Court' introduces us to theatre usher Diarmuid, addict Graymer and overlooked office worker and aspirational artist Lydia.

Each of three is struggling with their own personal issues before they are brought together in a Dublin lane in the presence of an avenging angel.

Diarmuid struggles to control his anger as he polices his patch outside a theatre venue, wayward soul Graymer just needs somewhere to relieve himself and Lydia just can’t get a new colleague off her back.

Intercession: Brighton Court takes inspiration from the sights and sounds of modern day Dublin, slam poetry fights with podcasts, hipster bars, heroin, death and sex.

The play, written by Owen Jerome Ryan, "peels back the masks we all wear and confronts the central question of our lives - what if I could really be me? And would I like me?"

It will be performed in The New Theatre in Temple Bar from August 27 to 31, at 7.30pm each evening with a 2.30pm matinée on Saturday.

Bookings can be made at www.thenewtheatre.com.
