New plans for Stretford Precinct include outdoor cinema and sunset gigs

New plans for Stretford Precinct will include an outdoor cinema and acoustic gigs.

A programme of new events for the area around Stretford Mall is set to kick off at the end of July, with organisers revealing their ideas this week.

It includes monthly outdoor screenings of films, "sunset gigs" and pop-up food vendors.

In a post on Facebook, a spokesman for the precinct said: "It’s been a long process of negotiation and compromise over the last few months but we think we’re going to be able to create something really special for the second half of summer."

They included a list of events for people to get involved in.

The cinema will screen classic movies as well as cult hits, arthouse films and even some from Bollywood.

Gigs will feature bands and singers from across Manchester and organisers say they are in talks with the Royal Northern College of Music, Stretford Brass Band, Owen Little’s string quartet and Picnic in the Park.

There are also plans for DJ sets using personal audio so that residents cannot hear the noise and the opening of an outdoor garden for visitors.

Drinks and food vendors are also set to appear, with organisers promising pop-up stalls featuring the best of Manchester's street food.
