New pizzeria set for Lace Market promises 'unforgettable' food and craft cocktails

Plans are in place for a new pizzeria that claims to serve 'unforgettable' food to set up in Nottingham. Pizza Punks say they will soon be bringing a punk-themed pizzeria that takes the 'best bits' from Neapolitan and New York pizzas and uses the 'best sourdough on the planet' to the Lace Market.

Plans have now been submitted to Nottingham City Council to allow the business to put up its own branding and signage promising sourdough pizza, fresh pasta and craft cocktails at the former Two Seasons and Element shop on Fletcher Gate. There are seven other Pizza Punks in the UK - with restaurants in Belfast, Glasgow, Durham, Leeds, Liverpool, Leicester and Newcastle.

Nottingham looks likely to become host to the eighth, with the restaurant's website stating the branch is 'coming soon'. In a statement on their website Pizza Punks said new customers would be able to experience 'unforgettable' pizza.

"We are non-conformist artisans who make unforgettable sourdough pizza. We’ve ripped up the rule book by taking the best bits from Neapolitan Pizza, using the finest Italian ingredients and methods and introducing them to our sourdough starter / sourced from the famous Boudin Bakery in San Francisco / renowned for making the best sourdough on the planet / Handmade in-house and double fermented for a minimum of 48hrs to generate maximum flavour," the statement said.

"Our pasta is also made fresh in our kitchens every day with the finest Italian ingredients. Choose from our classic dishes or create your own with as many toppings as you feel like, no extra costs, no hidden charges. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and halal options…we’ve got you covered."

A licensing application was previously submitted to Nottingham City Council for the new restaurant to open in Unit 2 & 3 of One Fletcher Gate by the Lace Market tram stop. Nottingham shoppers previously said the eatery could "be a hit" in the prime city location due to its seemingly "quirky" style.

The restaurant's branding would take the form of illuminated neon fascia signs and two projecting signs. The planning application is pending consideration by Nottingham City Council.
