New pizza restaurant with state-of-the-art stone oven to open in the city centre

Food options in Broadmead have improved considerably in recent years.

The kiosks located in the busy shopping district have been taken over by some top notch street food vendors, including Hippy Chippy, Big Bao and Toasted.

Not only this but Bristol institution Eat-a-Pitta recently improved its most central location with a brand new layout and the introduction of an online ordering system.

And fans of quality pizza will be delighted to hear that the newest restaurant to open in Broadmead will be the latest branch of the fast-growing Pizza1889.

What is Pizza1889?

Pizza1889, owned by a husband and wife, serves seriously tasty stone baked pizzas prepared and cooked in minutes by fully trained pizza chefs.

Its branches operate from specially designed shipping containers home to state-of-the-art six-foot stone ovens, which produces heat of around 450 degrees to ensure a superb, traditional pizza cooked within minutes.

It uses only the freshest ingredients sourced from Italy where possible while its dough and rich tomato sauce are all handmade onsite.

Cheese such as Mozzarella di bufala & Fior di latte and meats like Salami di Napoli & Neapolitan sausage are all sourced through Italian suppliers.

Space may be limited but use of it is maximised to create a 'unique catering experience'.

It opened a restaurant in Avonmeads at the end of last year which has earned positive reviews, with an average rating of 4.5 / 5 from 28 reviews on Google.

Where in Broadmead is it opening?

Pizza1889's new restaurant will be located in the kiosk in between Regatta and Clarks, just before the podium.

Fencing is currently surrounding the kiosk, which will be demolished so that the new shipping container can be installed using a crane.

This will happen either early in the morning or late at night so that shoppers are not affected.

When will it open?

If everything goes to plan, the restaurant will open at the end of June or early in July.

We think you'll agree it will be a very welcome addition to Broadmead.
