New pizza box design means takeaways can now be posted through your letterbox

As much as we love treating ourselves to a takeaway, there's no walk of shame quite like opening the front door to the delivery guy in your pyjamas.

But in a revolutionary new design, food delivery kings Deliveroo has invented a genius new takeaway box that means you can now get your bacon buttie or veggie bap through the letterbox.

Sadly, the new style box is only in the trial stage right now, with lucky Mancunians able to get their hands on the interaction-free food from today (July 1st) when ordering from Katsouris Deli cafe in Manchester.

The game-changing delivery box will feature the latest design packaging that is slim enough to fit through your door without squishing your food - or scraping off the toppings a la Peep Show's Jez...

If you're worried the new delivery style will involve scraping your sausage sandwich off the doormat on the other side, Deliveroo has also apparently thought about that too, with the new boxes being developed to keep food secure when coming through the letterbox.

Joe Groves at Deliveroo said, “our new delivery option means you’re treated like royalty, getting a meal without even uttering a word.

We recognise that some people need a duvet day and to hide in the comfort of their own home, so Royal Meal will still give people what they want – delicious food! Our Royal Meal service is the food delivery of the future and we are excited to add this layer to our offering.”

Richard Katsourise from the restaurant said, “we’ll be the first restaurant in the UK to offer the Royal Meal service to Deliveroo customers, getting our food out to people when they need it most! We’ve all had times when we don’t fancy cooking and instead order in, but this new service means you don’t even have to answer the door.”
