New “Pineapple” Feature Spotted in ChatGPT Web App

A new feature called “Pineapple” has been spotted inside the ChatGPT web app, which has led the internet to speculate about OpenAI’s next move. The feature was spotted by an X user named Tibor Blah.

OpenAI has not confirmed what “Pineapple” does, and no official documentation has been released. Based on its description, the tool could be linked to enhanced follow-up features or workflow improvements.

However, the leak has arrived at a time when OpenAI has been continuously refining ChatGPT in recent weeks. The company recently introduced a thinking-time toggle for GPT-5, giving users more control over how quickly or deeply the model responds. Usually, by default, queries use Standard thinking time, but users can now switch to Extended for deeper reasoning.

Apart from that, the company has also improved search inside ChatGPT to make it more reliable and easier to use. According to OpenAI, factuality has been improved, reducing incorrect answers and hallucinations. Search is now said to have a better understanding of shopping-related queries, ensuring product suggestions only show up when relevant. Plus, answers are also formatted for quicker scanning without losing detail.

So the appearance of “Pineapple” suggests that OpenAI may be testing more features quietly before public rollout. Given the company’s recent push for better usability and accuracy, “Pineapple” could signal further upgrades aimed at making ChatGPT a more versatile assistant.

Though it’s important to keep in mind that OpenAI has not confirmed any of the details, and for now, “Pineapple” remains a mystery. But it’s also a sign that the AI giant is experimenting with tools that could expand how people use ChatGPT.
