New pictures show garden destruction and one of the dogs to blame for it all

New pictures show the damage caused by a group of dogs allowed to run wild in Netherton.

The dogs' owner, 64-year-old Kevin Kearney of Park Lane, allowed them to break though a fence and rampage through a neighbour's garden despite a community protection order requiring him to keep the animals under control.

The pictures, released by Sefton Council, show the large hole in the fence that Kearney's dogs were able to escape through as well as his Cocker Spaniel standing next to an upended bucket.

A council warden found the spaniel and a grey cross-breed in Kearney's next-door neighbour's garden on June 6 while his third dog, a yellow Labrador, was "poking its head through a hole in the fence".

Kearney was fined £618 at South Sefton Magistrates' Court last Thursday for breaching the community protection order put in place in march 2017.

Fiona Townsend, prosecuting on behalf of Sefton Council, said the dogs were "having a detrimental effect on the lives of others".

The order required Kearney to ensure his dogs could not escape into neighbouring properties and maintain the fencing between his house and the house next door.

But Ms Townsend said she had no reason to believe any work had been done to the fence between Kearney being served with the order and the dogs being discovered on June 6, although she added he had more recently undertaken repair works.

Kearney failed to attend the trial last Thursday and was convicted and fined in his absence.
