New pictures show full extent of Speedwell fire

Police drone cameras have revealed the full and shocking extent of the fire which is still affecting the community in Speedwell, east Bristol.

Crews from Kingswood fire station utilised the police drone cameras to identify the remaining hotspots in the gutted wreckage of the Strachan and Henshaw building in Foundry Road, which was one of the biggest fires tackled by Avon firefighters in years.

Police and fire chiefs yesterday said they had still not been able to access the main building to begin the fingertip search of the site to establish the cause of the fire - but they are treating the incident as suspicious, and believe it could have been started deliberately.

There are still roads closed in the vicinity, with local residents thanked by police yesterday for their patience, along with a warning that it could be some time before the area is clear of disruption.
