NEW YORK — New photos introduced in Ghislaine Maxwell’s sex trafficking trial show the British socialite grinning as she rubs Jeffrey Epstein’s feet on an airplane.
The undated images, which were retrieved from CDs found at Epstein’s Upper East Side mansion after his arrest for underage sex trafficking in 2019, show the accused child predators in unguarded moments. Epstein sits on the plane with a gray hoodie unzipped, revealing his bare chest. Maxwell’s shirt is unbuttoned.
The pictures were discovered by the FBI during a search of Epstein’s townhouse on E. 71st Street, which was once estimated to be worth $77 million.
Authorities said shortly afterward that they found a stash of photos on CDs stored in a safe with handwritten labels like “Misc nudes 1” and “Girl pics nude.” One label featured an alleged victim’s name preceded by the word “young,” papers charged.
The new photographs were introduced during the testimony of FBI computer analyst Stephen Flatley, who processed material seized from Epstein’s home. Prosecutors cited the photos as evidence was not merely Epstein’s assistant, as her defense has suggested. Evidence has revealed that Maxwell served as Epstein’s employee and was his girlfriend. Prosecutors say she also played a key role recruiting underage girls for Epstein’s abuse from 1994 to 2004.
Data retrieved from the raid on Epstein’s mansion included an email from Maxwell complaining about the condition of the sex offender’s bathroom.
“The massage creams, et cetera, in JE’s bathroom were a mess. No one had it tidied up and arranged them so it was neat,” Maxwell wrote in 2001.
Previous testimony has revealed that Maxwell at one point fancied herself “the lady of the house” of Epstein’s Palm Beach, Florida, residence. She imposed strict rules regarding how Epstein’s home attendants should behave.
Maxwell has pleaded not guilty and argues that the feds have wrongly substituted her for Epstein after the sex offender killed himself while in custody.
A third alleged victim also testified for the government Tuesday, recalling when she first met Maxwell and Epstein in 2013.
The witness, named Carolyn, said Maxwell fondled her when she was 14.
“I was upstairs setting up the massage table. And at that point I was kind of comfortable because I had been there so many times, that at that point I was getting fully nude,” said Carolyn.
“And she came in and felt my boobs and my hips and my buttocks and said that ... I had a great body for Mr. Epstein and his friends.”
