New photos show Adam Beard's awful facial injuries after Wales v Australia red card

Photos have emerged showing the extent of Adam Beard's facial injuries after a head-on-head collision during Wales' win over Australia on Saturday.

Wallabies No. 8 Rob Valetini's challenge on the Ospreys lock in the opening 15 minutes of the game resulted in the visitor being red carded by referee Mike Adamson.

Beard was left sprawled on the pitch as he received treatment, while blood poured from his face as he exited the field and played no further part in the 29-28 win.

Now, pictures have emerged showing Beard's bruised eye and swollen face in the aftermath of Wales' autumn finale, where he posed for photos alongside Taine Basham and Ryan Elias.

Issuing an injury update post-match, Wales boss Wayne Pivac said: "Adam’s got a bit of a shiner and a swollen side of his face. He took a very big blow and couldn’t play on.

"That was disappointing for him but the success story of it was Ben Carter getting out there for some huge minutes and having to call the lineout under pressure with a big crowd and a lot of noise. I thought he did exceptionally well."
