New photos of futuristic Edinburgh housing estate with 450 flats and communal hub

A construction firm is moving into the final stages of the apartment complex they are building in Edinburgh.

The massive project will bring over 450 new flats to the Fountainbridge area and the developers Moda Living were granted permission this week for the final phase of works on one of the apartment blocks.

Three apartment blocks will be built on the site, and Building E on the southern edge of the site, required some amendments on the planning application as construction gets underway.

Building E, featuring a ground floor communal space, will have 139 apartments in total. There will be 25 studio apartments, 47 two-bedroom, 42 three-bedroom and 25 four-bedroom properties within the block.

Edinburgh Live revealed last month that Moda Living were aiming to have the works completed this year and when approving final consent the City of Edinburgh Council had some conditions.

They insisted that the applicant should install the agreed replacement permanent bus shelter and the required noise mitigating works shall be carried out in full and completed prior to the occupation of the residential properties in Building E.

The building’s communal space at the ground floor level where residents can relax in the lounge area, or work from the home space and there is also meeting booths for people to socialise and meet their new neighbours.

On the planning application, a spokesperson for the City of Edinburgh Council said: “The proposed development is acceptable in terms of amenity and will provide a modern development with high quality public and private spaces for the benefit of future occupiers. Overall, it makes a positive contribution to the regeneration of the area and provides a mix of housing sizes which are compatible with the neighbouring land uses.

“It will enhance the character of the area through the delivery of a well-considered design solution. There are no material considerations which outweigh this conclusion.”

Moda Living promise the apartment blocks offer residents a unique experience.

Amanda Rennie, from Moda, said: "Unlike most home providers, Moda is a hospitality led landlord - your rent will give you far more than just four walls. From an extensive list of services to make life easy and amenities that mean your home extends way beyond your home, living at Moda works around the lifestyle of a busy city dweller."

According to the company, Moda will also provide residents virtual access to nutritionists, wellbeing coaches and sleep advisers via the app, as well as Yoga and HIIT.
