New Paris mayor Emmanuel Grégoire cycles to city hall after election win

Emmanuel Grégoire, the newly elected mayor of Paris, cycled to City Hall on a rental Vélib’ bike following his victory in the municipal election.

The left-wing candidate, who secured a clear win, was seen riding through the streets of the French capital while greeting residents along the way.

The symbolic journey highlighted a modest and accessible image as he made his way from campaign headquarters to officially mark the start of his tenure at City Hall.

In the capital, 48-year-old civil servant Emmanuel Gregoire's victory extends the Socialists' quarter-century rule of Paris.
