New Panathinaikos star targets Rangers in Champions League vow

New Panathinaikos star Pedro Chirivella has targeted a Champions League win over Rangers after signing for the Greek side.

Rangers face a second qualifying round tie against the Athens side next month with the second leg in Greece.

Panathinaikos made ex-Liverpool midfielder Chirivella their third signing of the summer, having previously snapped up Greek international defender Georgios Kyriakopoulos from Monza and fellow stopper Ahmed Touba, with the Algerian international arriving from Turkish side Basaksehir.

And ex-Nantes ace Chirivella - who was handed his Liverpool debut by current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers - is already dreaming about a European run.

He said: "The fact that Panathinaikos are in the Champions League played a very big part in my decision to come here.

"We have two very big matches against Rangers coming up and we need to be 100 per cent ready to play them.

"I am sure we have enough in the team to get through.

"It was an easy decision to sign here because everyone knows Panathinaikos are a very big team. I wanted to come here, I have big ambitions to play in the Champions League.

"I think we can win the title this season and that's one of my goals."
