'New pages to write' - Nottingham Forest star makes determined pledge after play-off heartbreak

January arrival Nuno Da Costa believes Nottingham Forest will be stronger for their play-off heartbreak a week ago.

Da Costa forced his way into Sabri Lamouchi’s plans post-lockdown, initially having suffered with injury after making the switch from French side Strasbourg, and showed glimpses of what could be a bright future in the East Midlands.

The Cape Verde international has yet to find the net at the right end for the Reds, but did suffer the ignominy of scoring an own goal in last Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat to Stoke City as he chased valiantly back in the closing stages to help what proved to be a lost cause.

And speaking for the first time since the desperation of last midweek, Da Costa says the negative experience will benefit his teammates in the long run, as they look to mount another promotion push next season under Lamouchi.

“Before turning the page on this 19/20 season, with this painful end I couldn’t find the words but all I wanted to say it’s a MASSIVE thanks to the support Y’all gave during the season,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Unfortunately we didn’t get to the point we all wanted but we will get up stronger and fight for our future goals!

“Until there have good rest, be ready there are plenty of new pages to write for this massive club and massive fans!”
