New Packers LB Za’Darius Smith picks No. 55, honoring Terrell Suggs

New Green Bay Packers linebacker Za’Darius Smith has a new uniform number.

Smith announced on Twitter Sunday night that he’ll wear No. 55 in Green Bay, honoring former teammate Terrell Suggs, who wore the number in Baltimore.

Smith previously wore No. 90 with the Ravens. He wore No. 94 while at Kentucky. In Green Bay, Montravius Adams has No. 90 and Dean Lowry has No. 94.

Smith and Suggs combined for 15.5 sacks and 40 quarterbacks hits last season, helping the Ravens produce the NFL’s second-ranked scoring defense.

The Packers signed Smith to a four-year, $66 million deal during the opening days of free agency. A versatile rusher, Smith is expected to give the Packers’ defense much-needed disruptive ability, both from the edge and as an interior rusher.

Suggs, who gave the Ravens 132.5 career sacks, left Baltimore to sign with the Arizona Cardinals.
