New owners of a stunning Edinburgh home happy to take on the resident 'sunbathing tortoise'

A luxurious Edinburgh home and its resident tortoise has been scooped up by new owners.

The stunning five-bedroom property in Murrayfield came with more than just a hefty price tag, as potential buyers had to agree to take on a permanent house guest.

Torty the tortoise has been enjoying living at the property for over 70 years and now he will have some brand new friends to hang around with as the property has been sold for a whopping £925,000.

According to the Times, the house was previously occupied by Mr and Mrs Wersun who describe Torty as a “stubborn adventurer."

The tortoise, who lives at the bottom of the garden 'enjoys sunbathing' and 'munching on lettuce.'

It was decided that previous owners of the home had to leave the tortoise in the garden as moving the long-term resident would be 'too traumatic.'

Aside from little Torty, the impressive house also comes with four bedrooms and a large guest suite.

The property was described as being "beautifully presented throughout" and accented with "elegant period features."

We hope that Torty the tortoise is very happy with his new housemates!
