Blizzard dropped the Summit Breach Hero trailer for Sierra in Overwatch on April 8, and we got a glimpse of her potential abilities coming in Season 2.
Sierra is the newest DPS hero heading to Overwatch with Season 2, and based on her cinematic trailer fighting Emre, she’s shaping up to be one of the more mobility-heavy heroes the game has seen in a while.
What Sierra’s kit might look like in Overwatch
According to community speculation circulating on Reddit, Sierra looks like she’ll have at least three distinct abilities based on the trailer footage.
First, she appears to be able to climb walls, a mobility trick that very few heroes in Overwatch‘s roster currently have. Second, she seems to grapple onto her personal drone, using it as an anchor to pull herself toward elevated positions. The drone essentially acts as a mobile grapple point, which could make Sierra incredibly difficult to pin down in a fight.

Third, she appears to fire a tracker shot, a projectile that locks onto enemies, allowing her weapon to follow up with more accurate hits.
The drone detail is interesting. Rather than being a passive ability or a deployable turret, it looks like Sierra’s drone is her primary movement tool, functioning almost like a personalized grapple system.
If that’s the case, it’ll give her both vertical and horizontal mobility options, which could make her a real headache for Tanks and Support heroes trying to keep track of her. Her ultimate ability also seems to require a skill shot, meaning players who master her will likely have a much higher ceiling than those who don’t.
A gameplay trailer will confirm her actual abilities. She’s the 51st hero in the current roster, and the first new hero to drop under the rebooted Overwatch era.

Lore-wise, Sierra is framed as someone standing against Talon, the game’s central villain faction. As how the official Overwatch post on X put it: “Talon made their move. Time for Sierra to make them regret it.”
Her trailer takes place at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, a high-altitude rocky location that visually fits her playstyle.
When does Overwatch Season 2 start
Sierra officially joins the roster with the Season 2 launch on April 14, 2026, which is next Tuesday, so the wait isn’t long.
Blizzard’s plan for 2026 involves releasing one new hero per season, with four seasons across the year. Sierra is the Season 2 entry, which means three more new heroes are still on the way.
