Yotam Ottolenghi is to open his first new deli for six years, in a major vote of confidence in the West End’s revival.

The restaurateur and food writer’s new site on Marylebone Lane is due to open in late June, shortly after the final lockdown restrictions lift.

Ottolenghi, 52, said he expected the outlet to be popular with commuters returning to offices after a long period of working from home.

He said: “Since my days studying at the Cordon Bleu in the Nineties, I have always loved Marylebone High Street. Now, on Marylebone Lane, I think we have the perfect location, which happens to be a literal stone-throw away from my old school.”
