The New Orleans Pelicans will follow suit with the rest of the NBA on Monday by re-opening the practice facility for the first time in two months. The move comes in accordance with the rest of the league beginning the process of opening up facilities and working toward a restart of the NBA season this past weekend.
While the league is allowing teams to reopen facilities, the move comes with multiple restrictions. Most notably, only four players are allowed in the practice facility at one time to work out. While staff members can work out with each player, head and assistant coaches are not allowed to take part in the workouts.
More specific to monitoring the spread of the coronavirus, staff that work out with players must wear gloves, players who enter the facility will have their temperature checked and no group work is allowed.
Lonzo Ball was one of the last players to use the practice facility prior to it closing. In the span between the season being suspended and the facilities being closed, Ball got in multiple workouts, including one with teammate Brandon Ingram.
Ball did travel back home to California during the lockout, leaving Louisiana like many of his teammates. But as players return to the area and begin to start practicing again, the return of the NBA is slowly closing in as well.
