New Orleans food forcing Josh Hart to take nutrition more seriously

The city of New Orleans is known for three things: Its music, its parties and its delicious food. While the wild parties and festivals might generally be seen as the biggest potential distractions to New Orleans-based athletes, it’s the food that has Pelicans guard Josh Hart in a bind.

During the most recent episode of his podcast, Lightharted, Hart said that all of the delicious, unhealthy food in New Orleans has made him consider hiring a chef to manage his diet:

I’m going to start taking my nutrition more serious and get a chef … Bro, I had bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits when I was down there — bacon-wrapped shrimp and grits. First of all, do you know how unhealthy that is? That’s like a heart attack on a plate. So, I had that and then I had some like beignets after. I’m just sitting there like, “I can’t do this like every night. I’ve got to get a chef.”

Ball and Hart’s co-host, Matt Hillman, noted that Hart is in pristine shape, but apparently Hart doesn’t trust himself to not feed into (put intended) the temptation that comes exudes gumbo, jambalaya and crawfish. A personal chef might take a big bite of Hart’s rookie scale salary, but it could benefit fit him in a big way long-term.
