New options for getting ahead

Low-income earners seeking to enhance their skills and earnings potential now have a new resource.

As part of the government's second phase of the welfare and subsidy scheme, the Labour Ministry is offering a vocational training programme designed to prepare 600,000 people become more self-sufficient.

Labour deputy permanent secretary Waranon Pitiwan said the scheme will run for four months until September under a budget of 2 billion baht. It is considered the biggest job training programme ever.
