New 'one stop shop' food service from Nottingham company that went from market stall to multi-million pound business

A new wholesale delivery service has been launched in Nottingham creating 50 jobs for the Lenton headquartered firm.

Tiger Foodservice is a ‘one stop shop’ delivered wholesaler for the hospitality, leisure and contract catering sectors.

And it comes with the backing of a big name - Hyperama.

When Karamjit Singh Khera and his son-in-law, Mark Johal, stood on the family market stall in Victoria Market 45 years ago who could have predicted this Nottingham business would grow to be the multi-million pound company that Hyperama is today.

But from that stall the business evolved to van operation - servicing Chinese and oriental takeaways - growing until in 1992 the cash and carry business was born.

Now, the family firm has launched its latest venture.

Under the leadership of current managing director, Marcus Singh, the Nottingham based firm says it is acting on "customer demand" and providing a delivered wholesale service.

The firm says that this demand began pre-pandemic and has now accelerated significantly creating the need for a dedicated division that sits under its own brand.

Marcus said: “With more than 45 years’ experience in the wholesale sector, and following significant investment in people, logistics and technology, we’re delighted to be able to offer foodservice operators even more choice, quality and value.

"Backed by the Hyperama Group, a long-established family business, Tiger Foodservice is an exciting new name on the block for the Midlands area.”

Taking the business started by his father and grandfather and continuing the tradition of growth , Marcus added: "We’ve recruited two additional expert buyers with strong foodservice experience to work alongside our existing team to ensure customers benefit from the best deals possible, and have also invested in a new multi-temperature delivery fleet as well as a new website and app for easy ordering."

Specialising in both food and non-food items including an own brand range, fresh fruit, vegetables and premium fresh meat, Tiger Foodservice will operate out of its 100,000 sq ft depot on the city’s Lenton Industrial Estate and deliver initially into an area within a 100-mile radius.
