New NFF Super 16 Poll is out. Where is Ohio State?

The National Football Foundation in conjunction with the Football Writers Association has what might be the best objective college football poll going. While some of the others tend to keep teams where they thought they should be in the preseason until a loss occurs, the Super 16 Poll is not afraid to make concessions and moves when it makes sense.

Such is the case with the poll that was released after week six.

The voters of the poll have quietly and consistently continued to move Ohio State up in the rankings as it has continued to look dominant each week. The Buckeyes started out about where the AP and Amway Coaches had them, but now the Buckeyes have moved all the way up past Clemson to No. 2, just behind Alabama.

Not only that, but Ohio State also picked up more first place votes. It now commands eight first place votes — also the second most behind Alabama. That’s up from the five it got in the poll last week.

The margin is thin over Clemson, but anyone watching the two teams throughout this first half of the year would have a hard time arguing the Tigers as the better team so far.
