New Newcastle owners would be hailed 'heroes' as Vidal linked with Magpies switch

Newcastle United have been linked with an audacious swoop for Barcelona's Arturo Vidal amid talk of the Magpies changing hands at boardroom level.

The 32-year-old Chilean would be interested in a move to Tyneside should the takeover go through according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

Vidal has just a year left on his contract with Barca but has already attracted interest from Inter Milan, while Manchester United are also credited as admirers for the former Juventus and Bayern Munich ace.

The paper discusses his future and reads: "The entrance on the stage of Manchester United and Newcastle could change things."

The article suggest that Vidal likes the idea of Massimiliano Allegri coming in as manager after hearing reports of possible changes on Tyneside.

Meanwhile, Newcastle continue to make headlines in the Gulf and NUST's Peter Maughan has been speaking to Arabian Business.

With eye catching transfer stories emerging from Europe, Maughan said: "If you’re part of this consortium and we believe the Saudi Arabians are putting the vast amount of money in, first of all I can tell you, that they will walk into St James’ Park and they will be heroes; they will be heroes immediately, because they have ousted Mike Ashley, as far as the supporters and city is concerned."
