New neighbourhood bar for Dennistoun as The Palais takes over The Duchess

A new neighbourhood bar has sprung up on an already bustling part of Glasgow's east end.

The Palais, on Dennistoun's Duke Street, is the new kid on the block and an exciting venture from business partners Paul McJimpsey, John Lonergan and David Brown.

Formerly The Duchess, the latest hotspot has been transformed with new decoration, lighting, tables and more importantly - a new food menu.

Southside's Pot Luck cafe announces temporary closure

The Palais aims to have a local bar feel for food, drink and good times. However, one thing which isn't changing is the weekly Thursday quiz night with Gerry Lyons.

Paul told Glasgow Live: "We've had the place a few weeks and have been working on changing the inside.

"As well as new lighting, and decoration we've aimed to make the place more open and airy. We've also installed three large TVs with BT Sport and Sky so people can enjoy a meal and a drink and watch the football or rugby.

16 new Glasgow restaurants and bars that you have to try soon

"We think the area is on the up, you have Redmonds, Coia's and Mesa recently opening as well as Dennistoun BBQ too. There's lots happening on Duke Street.

"We're looking forward to it."

The food menu will be a smaller start up menu to begin with and has been created by a chef from Stravaigin. There will be burgers, fish and chips and breakfast and Sunday roast menus will be coming soon.

Customers will also have the option of giving feedback and letting Paul and the team know what food additions they'd like to see.

The Palais opens tomorrow, Thursday March 28, at noon on Duke Street.
