Chicken chain Nando's is opening a new venue in Newcastle this weekend - its third in the city.
The peri peri specialist has taken over the corner site of the former Laundrette bar-restaurant at the bottom of Westgate Road where, following a few trial runs this week for the new staff, it will be having its official opening at 11am this Saturday.
Fans of the chain are set to welcome the arrival of another venue in a prime city spot, following on from its restaurants at Intu Eldon Square and The Gate.
The new location is near the Central Station in the building which the Laundrette occupied for just a year or so until its closure last October.
Its site - part of the Vita Student building - is also next to the new pavement area created around the Stephenson Monument.
Nando's, which specialises in Portuguese food and is famed for its chicken and spicy peri peri spice, sells a range of burgers and wraps as well as a selection of sides, from halloumi sticks to grains and greens.
It recently announced it has also brought back a peri peri gravy for the festive season as the new addition to the menu proved such a success last year.
The new Newcastle Central branch will open its doors on December 7 at 11am and will be be enticing customers with a vibrant contemporary decor and mix of seating areas including a tucked-away booth which is ideal for larger groups to share.
