New name for Potteries timber firm following acquisition

A Stoke-on-Trent timber firm has changed its name after being acquired by one of the UK's largest sawmilling businesses.

In December, BusinessLive reported that SCA Wood Supply UK Ltd had been snapped up by BSW.

SCA Wood, which is based in Etruria, is one of the largest processors and distributors of timber products in the UK with annual sales in excess of £145m.

The business operates from its Etruscan Street headquarters and has a further processing and distribution capability at its three other sites in Melton, Welshpool and Cumbernauld.

Now the 280-strong company has announced that it has changed its name to BSW Timber Solutions Ltd following the takeover.

A statement from BSW said: "BSW is pleased to announce that the new name for SCA Wood UK, its most recent acquisition, is BSW Timber Solutions Ltd.

"The largest integrated timber and forestry business in the UK, BSW acquired the building and supply solutions division of SCA Wood UK in December last year.

"BSW Timber Solutions will continue to provide its customer base with quality products and service levels, delivering a combined package of timber solutions and security of supply for the market."
