New name emerges on Leeds United's defender shortlist as they assess EFL talent - reports

Oxford United captain Rob Dickie could be a summer transfer target for Leeds United as they plan for their first season back in the Premier League, according to reports.

With the transfer window now open, there’s no shortage of rumours flying around as to what Leeds might do this summer.

The Whites are of course planning ahead for their first season back in the top flight in 16 years, having won the Championship title.

That means it’s likely to be a big summer for Marcelo Bielsa as he looks to build his squad for their grand return, and there have been plenty of indications about the direction he’ll be heading in.

One option could be 24-year-old Dickie, who would add to the Argentine’s options in defence.

The Sunday Mirror reports the Oxford captain is on the radar for all three sides promoted to the Premier League.

The defender is said to be on the shortlists of Leeds, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham, with Newcastle United also keeping tabs on the £3m-rated defender.

Dickie joined Oxford two years ago after beginning his career at Reading, where he made just one senior appearance.

While at the Royals, Dickie took in loan spells with Basingstoke Town, Cheltenham Town, where he helped the Robins to the National League title, and Lincoln City.

The former England youth international is now in the final year of his deal at the Kassam Stadium, meaning the U’s may well look to cash in this summer.
