New musical tells Juliet's story with the songs of Britney and Backstreet Boys

A new musical is mixing Britney and Backstreet Boys to tell a different side of Romeo and Juliet’s tragic tale.

The backcatalogue of Max Martin, songwriter behind some of the biggest pop hits from the past 25 years, has been fashioned into & Juliet, with new arrangements by the Tony and Grammy award-winning Bill Sherman.

Opening at the Shaftesbury Theatre on November 20, & Juliet imagines a life after Romeo and features songs including Britney’s Oops...I Did It Again, Backstreet Boys’ Everybody, The Weekend’s I Can’t Feel My Face and Ellie Goulding’s Love Me Like You Do.

In the final scene of Shakespeare’s play, instead of taking her own life, Juliet decides to pick up and go to Paris with the Nurse and her friends.

Miriam Teak-Lee takes the lead of Juliet, having been in the original West End cast of Hamilton and starred as Claire DeLoone in On The Town.

Luke Sheppard (In The Heights), directs the show with choreography from Jennifer Weber, set by Soutra Gilmour and a story by David West Read.

Tickets go on sale on February 11, andjulietthemusical.co.uk
