New music: ZZT - Nickel Und Dime

The cut and paste hybrid of dance and hip-hop that is Nickel Und Dime has actually been around since last November. It's the centrepiece of Partys Over Earth, the delirious debut album from ZZT (aka Munich-based producer Zombie Nation and Canadian DJ Tiga), and its fairly straightforward structure, stuttering central riff and Tiga's laidback rap mark it out from the panic-inducing, genre-busting experimentation of the rest of the album. To mark the recent release of the Partys Over Earth remix album, which features reworkings by the likes of Julio Bashmore, Erol Alkan and Justice, the duo commissioned the brilliantly named Femme de $arkozy to make a video for Nickel Und Dime to help "raise it out of cult obscurity". The resulting vaguely NSFW video – premiered here – features heavily edited clips taken from the Bob Fosse-directed 1983 thriller Star 80, a film based on the true story of murdered Playboy model Dorothy Stratten and seems to perfectly encapsulate the song's slightly menacing seediness.

• Partys Over Earth and the remix album are both out now on Turbo Recordings.
