One of our favourite albums from last week comes courtesy of Rina Sawayama. It’s a wonderful 00s throwback, but not without a hint of futurism too. Expect echoes of Evanescence, nu Korn, P!nk and Jojo.
One World: Together At Home
Lady Gaga brought together some of her famous musical friends for this live-streamed concert over the weekend, and now you can listen back to all the performances on this hastily released, 79-track live album. Stevie Wonder, Taylor Swift, The Rolling Stones, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney and many others feature.
David Bowie — ChangesNowBowie
Originally slated as a physical release for Record Store Day, this new collection has instead been given to the digital realm. It’s a recording of a warm-up session Bowie did while preparing for his 50th birthday concert at Madison Square Garden in 1996.
Lido Pimienta — Miss Colombia
The Canadian-Colombian artist won the prestigious Polaris Prize for her album La Papessa in 2017. This latest release is a colourful, fresh-thinking take on traditional Afro-Colombian styles, bursting with invention.
Trickfinger — Amb/Brise
John Frusciante, who recently announced he would be rejoining the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the first time in a decade, will release a new solo album under his Trickfinger album this summer. She Smiles Because She Presses The Button arrives on June 8, and you can listen to the first two tracks, Amb and Brise, now.
