New music on Wednesday

Dead Weather – Hang You from the Heavens
(from NYMag.com)
The other odd Jacko returns with another side project, this time recruiting a Kill, a Queen of the Stone Age and a fellow Raconteur to help him drown out Meg's complaints that they "should really be getting back into studio soon, because she's learned a new drum beat and everything". Jack takes on stick duties this time, with Kills' singer Alison Mosshart doing an uncanny impression of um … Jack White. Again: what's Meg actually for?

Lake Heartbeat – Between Dreams
(from Lake Heartbeat, via Fluokids)
Swedish blog Stop Us Not says this lot were once Stolkholm's answer to Busted. We're not sure how they got from throwaway guitar-pop to tart electro class, but we imagine Tennant and Lowe had a lot to do with it.

Fanfarlo – I'm a Pilot
(from MySpace, via Let's Pretend We're Bunny Rabbits)
New material from London indie-rock band Fanfarlo, who fared well at SXSW last year (thanks in part to their excellent single, Fire Escape). They're playing Austin, Texas again this year. But then, who isn't?

Peaches – I Feel Cream

From MySpace, via Ohh Crap
The teaches of Peaches. Lesson two: going pop. Ditch the sex rap for an icy croon. Save your pocket money for a platter of producers du jour from the tuck shop. Accept that melody is more your study buddy than something that's trying to keep your libido in detention. Excellent work, Miss Nisker. A*

Teenagersintokyo – Robocat
(from Myspace
Revolving-door genre goth-disco comes back around for another swing with this Sydney quintet. They're skinnier, better-looking and have far nicer hair than anyone who was doing this a few years ago, so they might just make it through to the shiny lobby of pop star paradise.
